ARM uses the latest generation of LED Lighting for your fountains and water features. LED stands for Light Emitting Diode and the LED Lights have been a workhorse in the traffic safety and automotive industry for years. LED Lighting has expanded into the floating fountain market, water gardens and water feature market and the landscape lighting market. Since most LED’s used in these markets are considered low voltage lighting, the usefulness of these LED light fixtures has increased exponentially.
With advances in technology and the need for more efficient lighting requirements, engineers have worked on making the LED light as a viable source for the unique demands that our industry requires. In most cases, the LED Lights come in a low voltage lighting configuration. Low voltage lighting usually means either a 12 volt or 24 volt LED light fixture. Some of the benefits and advantages of LED Lighting are:
* Efficiency: LEDs are able to produce more light per watt than their competitive bulb types. Therefore, their energy consumption is much less than comparative fountain lighting sources. Because they are a low voltage lighting system, they consume less energy than most typical landscape lighting or other types of lighting. There is now available LED landscape lighting fixtures.
* Color: The LED light usually comes in a Cool White Light configuration. However, Lights can be special ordered with different colors (e.g., Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow) or as Color Changing Lamps (e.g., Red to White to Blue).
* Life Span: Since LEDs radiate very little heat and the diode is a semi-conductor (as opposed to incandescent bulbs or fluorescent bulbs) the life span of the LED is quite significant. In the fountain industry halogen style lamps are used and typically can have a 2,000 to 4,000 hour lifespan. An LED, by comparison, can have a 50,000 hour lifespan.
